Board meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month from September through June. Meetings are open to the public except for some portions dealing with confidential matters that are conducted "in camera". Anyone wishing to make a presentation to the Board must contact the Secretary of the Board, Ms. Toni Surko, at 613-253-3825 or via email at: tsurko@carletonplacehosp.com by the Friday before the meeting.

The Hospital is governed by a "Board of Trustees" appointed by the members of the Hospital Corporation in accordance with the bylaws of the Hospital. The Board governs the affairs of the Hospital, oversees the management of the Hospital and is accountable to the community, the Ministry of Health & Long Term Care and Champlain Local Health Integration Network. The Board governs the hospital by establishing specific bylaws, policies and procedures that provides the framework within which the Chief Executive Officer manages the day-to-day processes of the Hospital. It also establishes the framework within which the Chief of Staff and the Medical Advisory Committee operate. The Board monitors the performance of the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief of Staff and the Medical Advisory Committee through an Accountability Framework.

The Board of Trustees is comprised of 12 elected members, 3 Corporate ex-officio members and 4 Municipal ex-officio members.

The elected members are selected from a list of applicants generated from advertisements in local newspapers. Most residents of the communities served by the Hospital are eligible for membership on the Board of Trustees. Interested candidates should consult the Bylaws of the Hospital available through the CEO's office.

The Chief of Staff, the President of the Medical Staff and the President of the Hospital Auxiliary are the Corporate ex-officio members. The President of the Hospital Foundation is an ex-officio member without voting privileges.
